Admissions

Admissions to Holystone Primary School (Reception to Year 6)

Holystone Primary School is a North Tyneside Community School.  This means admissions to our Reception class and any other 'in-year' applications for Year 1 to Year 6 are managed by the Local Authority.  All of the information required to make an application can be found at the Local Authority website - https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/129/school-admissions .

We are delighted that Holystone is a very popular school however, this does mean we are usually full in most year-groups and our Reception application process is regularly over-subscribed.  Should you be interested in a securing a place for your child, please ensure you are familiar with the over-subscription criteria set out in the Local Authority's Essential Guide to School Admissions.  If you are unsure as to whether your home falls within the school's catchment map, please contact the school office on 0191 9170004 as this may well be a factor in determining the outcome of your application.

We are very happy to invite prospective parents to have a tour of the school.  We can show you our facilities and discuss with you the application process, though on occasion we may also have to inform you that we may not have a space available.  A visit can be arranged via the school office.

For parents looking to apply to join our Reception intake, please ensure you are aware of the deadlines set out by the Local Authority in their Essential Guide.

Details about Admission appeals are to be found in the Local Authority Essential Guide.

Holystone Nursery Admissions

Unlike Reception, it is the school's responsibility to manage admissions to our 52 place Nursery.  We closely follow the guidance that is applied to Reception admissions by the Local Authority, with very similar over-subscription criteria (details are laid out in the Nursery Admissions Policy below).  An application for Nursery can be made direct to the school at any point.  Due to the high level of demand, it is usual that there is only one intake point each year - the September after your child's 3rd birthday.

Nursery operates as a 26 place morning/26 place afternoon provision.  Due to demand places can only be offered as morning only or afternoon only.

Please note, admissions criteria are applied equally to all applications however long they have been held on file.  An early application does not give an advantage in the admissions process.

IMPORTANT: Acceptance of a Nursery place does not guarantee a place in the following year's Reception class.

30hr offer - we do offer the additional free 15hr childcare to those who qualify.  We do this in conjunction with our Out of School Club which is located on site.  If you are interested in the 30hr offer, please let us know when you make your application.
